Girls’ Generation’s Taeyeon follows up “Starlight”, released last week with this video named “Why” and of course both are following on the heels of her massive hit “I” released last year to rave reviews from fans and the more recent “Rain”. “Why” has some elements of the storyline seen in “Starlight” such as the hot dog stand shenanigans where Taeyeon sprays the owner with bottles of ketchup and mustard before bumping into Dean as she makes her escape. Dean was a featured performer in Starlight and was noticable in “Shut Up And Groove” from Heize that was also released in June 2016. Also, there is the puzzle she works on that holds the hidden message Miss Me? that was shown on her pager/phone while she was passing some time with Dean in Starlight.
Both Why and Starlight have been getting massive views in the short time since the videos were released which is to be expected given the incredible popularity Taeyeon enjoys both for her solo activities as well as when she has accomplished as a member of Girls’ Generation (and the band’s sub-unit TTS). Both videos have received upwards of 6-8 million views in the first week of release on Youtube and a “dance” version of Why was released which will probably also garner lots of interest. I’ll post that one below in case you haven’t seen it yet.
No doubt the reason for the number of views has something to do with a ready-made and highly interested fanbase but just from her singing abilities alone Taeyeon would get a fair amount of notice especially with that solo debut in 2015 named “I” featuring Verbal Jint. And I would be remiss if I didn’t mention that she is definitely “easy on the eyes” for most viewers. I don’t want to go all fanboy but the camera loves this girl’s face and she’s got the pipes so that makes her highly entertaining to watch.
